Shenandoah Hills
Wind Energy Center
The Shenandoah Hills Wind Energy Center is a proposed 246-megawatt (MW) wind power generation facility in Page and Fremont Counties. The project is targeted to begin construction in the 4th quarter of 2022 and be fully operational by the 4th quarter of 2023. Wind energy is clean, renewable power from one of the oldest known energy sources, and today it is one of the cheapest. Iowa produces more of our electricity from wind than any other source. Iowa ranks first in the nation for wind energy as a share of total electricity generation and is on a path to 100% renewable energy.
The proposed project is located in Southwestern Page and Southeastern Fremont counties, between Riverton and Coin.
An estimated $225 million will be invested in Page and Fremont Counties through local taxes and landowner payments over the life of the project.
The Shenandoah Hills Energy Center will support Southwest Iowa through additional property tax revenue, helping fund essential services for the community. Invenergy projects support local education initiatives, emergency & veteran services programs, and environmental stewardship efforts.
At peak construction, Shenandoah Hills Wind Energy Center is expected to employ more than 200 people. After construction, the project will employ up to 10 additional permanent operations and maintenance (O&M) staff.
